Europe in the CIA's web

The daily's editorialist believes the Spanish government presently finds itself in a 'difficult patch' since, according to Dick Marty's assertions, the Palma de Mallorca airport is part of the CIA's 'spider's web' in Europe. "If we shut our eyes to this type of operation, we lose all legitimacy in the fight for human rights and against terrorism. ... This is why it is inadmissible that in an affair as worrying as this, the current government defends itself by asserting its good faith and ignorance. Since the foreign affairs minister, Miguel Angel Moratinos, acknowledged last November that the issue did not fall within his competence, the government has satisfied itself with avoiding the subject, hoping that it would go away in time, with a minimum of damage done."
