Bad compromise the last resort for Greeks

So much time has passed in the negotiations between Athens and its creditors that any agreement would be welcome, the liberal daily Público comments: "With each new ultimatum the day when the Greeks simply run out of money to fulfil their obligations draws closer. When precisely that day will be, no one knows. … A default on payment - even if involuntary - would unleash a chain of events of unprecedented and therefore worrying proportions. … Aware that time is running out a crisis summit has convened in Berlin to accelerate the negotiations and shift the discussion from the technical to the political level it should never have left. … We have reached the point where a bad compromise is better than no agreement at all - as unfair as that may be for the Greeks."
