No to Schengen accession is right decision

Blocking the Schengen accession may not be nice, but it is necessary, the liberal-conservative Neue Zürcher Zeitung contends: "In times of limited resources, politicians are faced with the task of ensuring that conflictual issues remain open to negotiation. To this end limits must be set. Once the immigrants arrive and so to speak silently encroach even on the living environment of those at the bottom end of the social scale, there is no longer any possibility for negotiation. For the sake of negotiability it is necessary that the governments of the affected EU countries demand and push through corrections to the expansion and free circulation agreements. Doing this on a large and highly visible stage is certainly not pleasant. But not to do so would be irresponsible. If the state passes burdens down from the top to the bottom to the point where those at the bottom can no longer shoulder them, it undermines its own fundament."
