Fight Netanyahu's radicalisation

French President François Hollande and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commemorated on Thursday in Tolouse the attack in March in which a radical islamist killed three soldiers as well as three children and a teacher at a Jewish school. The left-liberal daily Libération applauds the ceremony but warns that the international community should try to hold Netanyahu to a moderate line: "This commemoration of the victims of the terrorist Mohammed Merah was made truly memorable by the sentiments, solidarity and fraternity expressed here in Toulouse. Above all it is laudable that the message of the ceremony stood higher than all other considerations, notably the political motives for the visit by the Israeli leader. In such an insecure world, and in particular in view of the threat from Iran, no one can blame Israel for being obsessed with its own security. Nevertheless Benjamin Netanyahu's radical approach just a few weeks before the parliamentary elections take place must be combated with all possible force. The fight against terrorism cannot justify a policy that seeks to profit from deliberately worsening the situation."
