Hollande buckles on homosexuality

The French government under François Hollande wants to introduce same-sex marriage, with the cabinet due to discuss a corresponding law on November 7. The conservative daily Le Figaro sees French society in peril: "If this reform is adopted it will overturn the structure of the family, erase the concepts of father and mother from the civil code and change the future of thousands of children. The Left is preparing a coup whose consequences for our country's social equilibrium no one can estimate. This is regrettable, condemnable, unacceptable. Not a single solid argument backs up the revolution in social consciousness that François Hollande and his government want to push through. It is merely a response to pressure exerted by a tiny minority."
