Rich finally caught evading taxes

In a series of targeted inspections carried out during the Christmas holidays at the famous Italian holiday resort Cortina d'Ampezzo, tax investigators caught the owners of bars, hotels, restaurants and luxury shops and their customers in the act of evading taxes. Finally the real culprits are being caught, the liberal-conservativ daily Corriere della Sera notes gleefully: "If instead of carpet bombings there were more such precise and intelligent surprise attacks the battle against tax evasion would be half won. It stood to reason that at Christmas time the beautiful mountain resort would be swarming with owners of luxury limousines who claim to be penniless. The tax investigators simply exposed what everyone already knew. Bravo! ... The operation was carried out with surgical precision. This shows that the Holy War is not the best weapon for uncovering tax evasion. The inquisition against the middle class or the terrorising of account holders leads nowhere."
