Growth is answer to riots

More economic growth can promote the rise of the socially disadvantaged, writes the liberal daily Dagens Nyheter in view of the heavy riots in the UK: "Economic insecurity creates social disorder. For the UK, as for other countries, growth is a pre-requisite for development. Further riots can be best avoided if the country is freed from its current social crisis. The problems will hardly get better if the British welfare state continues to hinder the rise of the socially weak. With all the state handouts people are hardly encouraged to break out of their social plight by their own efforts. It's time for a more modern and flexible Great Britain."
