Exodus to Europe: Solution lies beyond the EU's borders

Europeans are kidding themselves if they believe they can seal themselves off from the refugees with border fences, the left-leaning daily Právo believes, and calls on Europe to look for solutions outside its borders: "A pragmatic solution would be a migration partnership with states in Europe's immediate vicinity. That could be discussed at the upcoming African-European Migration Summit in Valletta. But it comes with a price tag. Angela Merkel saw in Turkey how something like that could work in practice. The Vienna Conference on Syria with the participation of the US and Russia also provides some hope. In the Middle East, however, Syria is not the only cause for concern: Iraq and Yemen are also on the brink of collapse. The big powers and other interested parties must accompany this process of collapse, as well as safeguarding the emergence of new states. In view of these tasks, refugees will remain a problem for Europe for a long time to come."
