Turning churches into mosques is pragmatic

It's hard to understand why a petition against the transformation of unused French churches into mosques has been so popular, the daily Le Quotidien writes: "It's not the Muslims' fault that French churches are emptying! And making it more difficult to turn churches into mosques won't make us 'forget' the presence of Muslims in France. Once you've refused to let Muslims use these places of worship, what's the solution? Should we wait for the faithful to return miraculously to the fold? Or should we resign ourselves to selling these buildings to the private sector, even if they completely lose their original function? In any case, the problem of the lack of mosques will persist. Too bad certain French people lack pragmatism."
