China belongs at the G7 table

As much as the G7 countries demonstrated unity at their recent summit meeting, they must do more to find a common language for approaching China and strengthening dialogue with Beijing, the left-leaning daily Právo believes: "At the moment the US and Europe, for example, are adopting different attitudes to the Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank (AIIB) set up by China. This bank is proof of China's ability to found alternative institutions, also thanks to its huge dollar reserves. ... For now the G7 is still an exclusively Western club, but it can only set the agenda for the world's future to a certain extent. If that is to change, China belongs at the table. Difficult as it may be, it is high time to strike up a dialogue with China and other new powers on rules for the multipolar world. And not only in terms of economics, but also democracy, security and human rights."
