No one wants to be Latvia's president

Latvia's parliament will elect a new president today. But nobody really wants the job, the national-conservative daily Neatkarīgā observes: "Has the president's chair really become such a worm-eaten relic that no one wants to sit on it any more? Then we should take it down and put it on the street so that the vagrants can bring it to the dump or the pawn shop. The discussion about the candidates and their campaigns was not exactly thrilling. ...
