Belgrade ruling bolsters nationalists

A court in Belgrade on Thursday rehabilitated the Serb nationalist and former leader of the Chetniks in World War II Draža Mihajlović, who was executed as a war criminal in 1946. A fatal ruling that will give the nationalists in the region fresh impetus, the left-liberal daily Novi List fears: "This is the last act in a continuous and politically controlled process that began in the 1980s - and not just in Serbia but in all the states of former Yugoslavia. It's a project with only one goal: the rehabilitation of the nationalist and chauvinistic ideologies that supported the fascist occupiers in the Second World War [in Yugoslavia] and that were revived at the start of the 1990s, leading to war."
