European elections: a test for Slovenia's new parties

The European elections will be a first acid test above all for the alternative left-leaning parties in Slovenia that emerged in reaction to the mass protests in 2012/2013, the left-liberal daily Delo comments: "With the newly formed parties too, we are seeing the same fragmentation tendencies and inability to work together evident in the established centre-left parties. This shows how this part of the political spectrum is still in the construction phase. It will be some time before we can see what these parties are really capable of. Shortly before the start of the official election campaign, the right-wing parties are offering their voters a coherent story while from the centre-left all we see right now is a pushing and shoving among diverse protagonists, but little substance."
