Škoda a role model for companies

Production at Volkswagen's Czech subsidiary Škoda reached record levels in the first months of the year, the company announced on Monday. The business paper Hospodářské noviny is full of praise: "Škoda-Auto is proving an ideal business model and a flagship for functioning capitalism. The company is wooing customers with high-quality and relatively economical products, a well-organised distribution network, a strong location for technology and investments and a qualified and loyal workforce that is proud of its work. This is not a universal recipe for success, but for small and medium-sized businesses also the principle applies that you can't survive in the long term without a production strategy and investments as well as a sense of loyalty among employees. Škoda is without doubt an exception in the technological sector, but it's an exception that in some respects could well be made the rule."
