No peace with Abbas and Netanyahu

There can be no two-state solution under the current political leaders in Israel and Palestine, the left-liberal daily Süddeutsche Zeitung is convinced: "For Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, all statements on peace are just tactical tokenism and cost him nothing - certainly not a scrap of land. ... Like his unfortunate predecessor Yassir Arafat, by contrast, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas doesn't have the strength to prepare his people for compromises. Because the only way a Palestinian state can come into being is by renouncing the right of return for refugees to Israel. ... The time is ripe for a solution, but the protagonists are far from it. ... Before the road to peace can be charted out, both sides must find new leaders. Their task: more unity - in their dealings with each other, but first and foremost with their own people."
