Anti-Semite among Sweden's Social Democrats

Sweden's Social Democrats have elected Omar Mustafa, chairman of the country's Islamic Association, to their party's governing board. Mustafa became well-known when among other things he invited notorious anti-Semites as speakers to various events. The left-liberal tabloid Aftonbladet voices its concern: "After yesterday's criticism [from the Swedish Committee Against Anti-Semitism and other organisations] he is now stressing - in an interview with Aftonbladet among other newspapers - that he is a severe critic of anti-Semitism. However when speaking to [the anti-fascist foundation] Expo he said he doesn't rule out the possibility of inviting such speakers in the future because he believes in 'argumentation and dialogue'. There can be no doubt that dialogue is a good thing. But this issue addresses questions that concern the equal value of all individuals. If you invite anti-Semitic preachers, you offer a platform for attitudes that we must assume are entirely foreign to a social democratic outlook."
