Boateng fights racism in football

In Italy a friendly match between AC Milan and lower division clup Pro Patria was abandoned in the 26th minute of play on Thursday because of the racist chants of the Pro Patria fans. The black player Kevin-Prince Boateng had walked off the pitch in protest, followed by his teammates. Bravo, Boateng, the liberal-conservative daily Corriere della Sera applauds: "Finally a fitting reaction to the far too many idiots who chant racist slogans at stadiums. A start has been made. From now on the devise is: all players leave the pitch at the first chants against 'niggers'. The whole team, united. … This gesture by Boateng points the way. Tough intervention is required, always, even at official games. This may hurt but it's necessary to drive the troublemakers and their racists chants out of the stadiums. No 'nigger' insult should go unpunished. The lenient approach with racists has come to an end. Thank you, Boateng."
