A warning to the mullah regime

Even if the differences between Israel and the US were clearly visible on Monday the Iranian regime should be extremely careful, warns the left-liberal daily Süddeutsche Zeitung, because Barack Obama "is holding to his position that all diplomatic efforts and sanction options must be exhausted before a military strike can be carried out. The government in Jerusalem, by contrast, wants to act quickly because otherwise nothing will prevent Iran from building a bomb - or in any case certainly not Israel's military means alone. Despite these differences between Israel and the US, a message is coming out of Washington that Tehran must take seriously. Between Israel's limited military capacity and America's limited willingness to get caught up in yet another war in the Middle East, the Mullah regime may have some room for manoeuvre. But this room by no means seems large enough for Iran to calmly continue with its nuclear weapons programme."
