România Liberâ

Romania Libera (Free Romania) was one of the leading party papers during the communist era. In the revolutionary days of December 1989 the paper immediately went into opposition against the post-communist government. It has kept its old name. Romania Libera had over a million readers shortly after the revolution, but since then its circulation has fallen dramatically. Initially WAZ Media Group held shares in the paper but it withdrew in 2010, leaving the publisher, the Medien Holding trust, in the hands of multimillionaire entrepreneur Dan Grigore Adamescu, who is currently under investigation on charges of bribery.
