Poles lack the Czechs' sense of humour

Czech film and theatre director Petr Zelenka is currently working on a project at the Stary Teatr in Cracow. Talking to Justyna Nowicka he compares Czech and Polish culture. "Czech humour is the art of observing reality while maintaining a certain distance. In Poland, actors, critics and spectators try to identify with a character and uncover their complex psyche. We Czechs don't always do this. ... The Poles tend to take everything dead seriously - even humour."
