Geneva inhabitants need to give for the sake of their museum

Pascale Zimmermann urges inhabitants of Geneva to "make a symbolic gesture that will give them virtual ownership of a shard of glass or piece of stone in the new building that architect Jean Nouvel has been offering to build in the courtyard of Geneva's Museum of Art and History (MAH) for ten years. The idea has been launched and a foundation has been created for the people of Geneva to amass the 40 million Swiss francs [25 million euros] necessary for this grand project. ... Through its panache, the project will polish the museum's image abroad as it is somewhat lacklustre now. And it will bring a vital breath of fresh air from beyond the canton's borders. Some potential donors are currently discouraged, reluctant to bequeath part of their heritage to an institution with a décor that is falling apart. They would no doubt regain legitimate pride in transmitting all or part of their collection to a museum with increased prestige."
