Polish PKP Cargo's successful IPO

The second largest European rail logistics company, Poland's state-owned PKP Cargo, made a successful debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange on Wednesday. The restructuring of the company and a favourable market environment had a lot to do with its success, the left-liberal news portal Polityka Online writes: "PKP Cargo is the first rail company to overcome the downturn in the market that came with the advent of the crisis in 2008. For years PKP Cargo was on the verge of bankruptcy and incurred huge losses. ... Then it cut its staff and focussed on effective investments, and even registered profits. ... The stock market debut was also facilitated by the economic upturn we've been seeing in Warsaw and Europe in recent months. When the indexes rise, investors' appetites grow apace."
