Bundesliga the reform workshop of football

The final game of the Uefa Champions League on May 25 will be a German-German showdown between FC Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga is currently the reform workshop of football, the liberal weekly Die Zeit writes: "Two entirley different clubs are playing the most forcefull and beautiful German football since the 70s, carefully choreographed and at times anarchistic. ... While our education policymakers travelled to Finland, our football officials had a look around in Spain, France and the Netherlands. More than they suspect, players like Mario Götze and Marco Reus, Thomas Müller and Mats Hummels are the children of a cosmopolitain approach that Germany has adopted belatedly, but vigorously. ... Now Europe isn't even bothered by the fact that the Germans spied on the laboratories of FC Barcelona, Ajax Amsterdam and Arsenal London, or that the FC Bayern has now hired Pep Gurdiola as coach - or that the Bundesliga seems to be turning into the new Silicon Valley of world football."
