Swift action will prevent epidemic spreading

There's no reason for Europe to panic about Ebola but it must act quickly, Roman Prymula director of the Czech Vaccinology Society writes in an opinion piece for the liberal daily Mladá fronta Dnes: "The Ebola virus is undoubtedly highly infectious. But the exchange of bodily fluids mechanism through which it spreads is far less dangerous than with other epidemics. That means we can fight Ebola. But it's crucial that the forces are mobilised in time. Further delay could have catastrophic consequences. ... The main threat is that the epidemic has already gone beyond the borders of the three African states originally affected. The longer we wait to put really tough regulations in place, the more expensive it will become to fight the virus. We must realise that the fate of other continents is also at stake in Africa now. ... We needn't be afraid. That won't help anyway. But we must take action."
