Catholic radio good for Poland

The nationalist Catholic Radio Maryja is celebrating its birthday. Eighteen years ago father Tadeusz Rydzyk launched the station, which has been accused of broadcasting xenophobic comments among other things. The right wing conservative daily Nasy Dyiennik writes that Rzdyzk has done his country a favour: "We would like to express our thanks that Radio Maryja has existed for 18 years! It has rendered a major service to Poland and to future generations. Radio Maryja is proof positive that the times will always be favourable to those who seek to construct Poland, who act in the name of God and who are honest and persevering. ... [Metropolitan Archbishop of Szczecin] Andrzej Dzięga expressed his thanks to Radio Maryja for addressing difficult social and economic problems."
