Large mosque in Budapest a dangerous project

In recent times the Hungarian government under Viktor Orbán increasingly appears to be reorienting towards the East and is cultivating its relations with Russia and Turkey through reciprocal visits and declarations of solidarity. Now it wants to erect a gigantic mosque in Budapest. The conservative daily Magyar Nemzet criticises the plans: "Today it's one huge mosque, tomorrow it will be ten more. Let's not fool ourselves, once we start there will be no stopping. It's enough to look at the 'developed West'. The Germans are to be praised for their economic performance, but what they've done on this front is alarming. And there are reasons to fear that they'll only realise it when the country is no longer German at all. ... Integration doesn't mean that I have to abandon my homeland to the newcomers and subordinate myself to their habits and religions in the name of a mistaken sense of hospitality and tolerance."
