Second Gay Pride Parade in Sofia

"Should people put their sexual orientation on display and wave a banner to make it known?" asks Stanka Petrova in the daily Standard, in a comment on Sofia's second Gay Pride Parade which took place on Saturday: "A person's sexuality is a discreet part of their personality. And even if it has an indirect influence on someone's actions, it's not the most essential part of their personal makeup. ... What was on display at the parade was a colourful, carnival-like, showy yet unpersonal sexuality, one with a distinct claim to being different. In fact, with all its strutting it almost called my heterosexuality into question. What's that supposed to mean? That I'm just like everyone else if I'm heterosexual?"
