Maintain pressure on Bulgaria's government

Thousands of people continue to protest in Bulgaria against the government of Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski. Columnist Samuil Petkanov, born in 1990 during the first mass demonstrations at the start of the democratic transition in Bulgaria, explains in a commentary for the online portal Offnews why he's been demonstrating every day for the past two months and has no plans to stop: "I'm protesting out of pure self-interest. I want to appease my conscience. I don't want to repeat the mistakes of my parents, who believe that democracy is something that takes place on a Sunday with a dutiful trip to the polling station. I want to vote every day. I want my society to be based on ideas that are debated openly and defended with logical arguments. I don't want it to be ruled by politicians who manipulate the elections to their own advantage every four years and then do just as they please. It's time to put an end to all that! Enough! The line must be drawn here!"
