Parkiet Gazeta Gieldy - Poland | 20/05/2010

Poland's economy leads Europe

The Polish economics institute IbnGR has predicted that the Polish economy will grow by 3.2 percent this year and 3.5 percent in 2011. This is not surprising, but it still doesn't make Poland a member of Europe's leading group, the business paper Parkiet Gazeta Gieldy writes: "Our economy has been the only one in Europe to escape the recession, but this doesn't mean that we will make a quick return to the path of rapid GDP growth in the coming years. The latest prognoses of the economics institute [the IBnGR] show that at least two years of only average growth lie ahead. ... This means that the growth rate of between six and seven percent we saw before the global financial crisis is out of reach now. But even with such an average growth rate we are still likely to occupy a leading position in Europe in this respect."
