Set up an EU corridor to Dubrovnik

The coastal town of Neum, Bosnia and Herzegovina's only access to the Adriatic, not only separates the exclave Dubrovnik from Croatian territory but as a consequence also divides EU territory. Instead of spending money on bridges or a tunnel under the sea as planned, Brussels should declare this part of Bosnia EU territory and simply build a motorway across it, the conservative daily Vecernji List demands: "Regardless of the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina probably won't become an EU member in the next decade, Brussels is sending the wrong message with the plans to build a bridge: we're not reckoning with you. Yet Neum has the potential to make an important European and Croatian contribution to beginning to solve the crisis in Bosnia. … [EU Commission President] Barroso and [Expansion Commissioner] Füle should immediately begin with the process of declaring Neum a European district. … In return for this Brussels should pay Sarajevo 200 million euros (what the bridge would cost) to be used for EU integration measures."
