Greeks the object of envy in the crisis?

The daily To Vima writes that the economic crisis has not hit the Greek economy as hard as it has hit other countries and comments ironically on the reasons for this. "Rather than using its accession to the European Monetary Union (EMU) to overcome its weaknesses Greece honed them. Thanks to the EMU the state, the companies and the citizens were able to take out an excessive number of loans. … Why should we try to remedy our weaknesses when our superiority depends on them? … We belong to the EMU and they can't throw us out. … This is why they are spitting in our faces. It's more than hate. It's envy. Who wouldn't want to be in our position?"
