Bulgaria's president muffs new year's speech

Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev's new year's address was broadcast on state television accompanied by images of the country. But when Plevneliev spoke of the beauty of Bulgaria's landscape a picture of the Colorado Rockies appeared. How embarassing, writes the online portal e-vestnik: "Plevneliev and his team saw the speech before it was broadcast, and no one noticed that the photo couldn't be of Bulgaria because it shows a mountain landscape that is completely uncharacteristic for our country. It depicts the Maroon Bells, the chestnut brown peaks in the world-famous ski resort of Aspen, which bear their name precisely because of their form and colour. ... How could the president, who was born practically at the base of the Rila, Pirin and Rhodope Mountains, fail to notice this? ... The whole thing is an embarrassment, especially considering that there are plenty of beautiful mountains in Bulgaria, photographed, what's more, by top-notch Bulgarian photographers."
