Italy should revise its laws

The Nobel Prize in Medicine for British biochemist Robert Edwards should encourage Italy to revise its restrictive laws on artificial insemination, writes the business paper Il Sole 24 Ore: "The Nobel Prize has reignited the debate. On the one hand the scientists … who say the law prevents research, and on the other the pro-lifers … who defend it with drawn swords. … It's time for both sides to start thinking things over seriously and without prejudices or religious wars. For the sake of research and development, out of respect for the biblical command 'Go forth and multiply' and without condemning a single woman to feeling like the barren women of the Holy Scriptures."
