Europe profits from immigrants

Certain European politicians fear a wave of immigration from Bulgaria and Romania when the citizens of these countries gain unlimited access to all EU labour markets as of 2014. These politicians need to finally realise that on the whole immigration is good for their countries, the web portal euinside points out: "In its 'Europe 2020' action plan the EU has already acknowledged that because of its ageing population and low birth rates Europe will come to rely on immigrants in the future. At the same time it admits that not just citizens from non-member countries, but also those from EU member states have unequal access to education, work, health services and social services in the EU. ... The individual EU states would benefit both economically and socially from a comprehensive revision of the policy regarding disadvantaged sections of the population. And the image of the EU would also improve. It's about time the immigration countries stopped stigmatising immigrants as risk groups and started recognising their potential."
