The myth of a resistant nobility in Nazi times

The book The Baron, the Jews, and the Nazis by the German writer and former Green Party politician Jutta Ditfurth comes out today in its Polish translation. In it the author describes the anti-Semitic attitude of her great-granduncle Börries Baron von Münchhausen. Adam Kraszeski expresses his delight on the blog portal naTemat: "Finally an author has put paid to the myth [that the German aristocrats were primarily part of the resistance during WWII]. ... This is the voice of a generation of grandchildren that is investigating and analysing the past of its forebears in a way free of emotion. These are not the children of 1968, who had heard nothing but justifications and excuses and voiced their protest with the help of Molotov cocktails. ... I will always be particularly delighted with such a book if the Germans can be content to identify with the resistance fighters of the White Rose Movement or the Kreisau Circle, and not with such figures as Borries von Münchhausen."
