Zdzisław Krasnodębski on Poland's position in international relations

Polish philosopher Zdzisław Krasnodębski writes in the conservative newspaper Rzeczpospolita that good relations with Moscow are crucial for Germany, and that this represents a defeat for the Polish government. "German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has appealed to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to renounce plans for the missile defence shield in Poland. This move well exemplifies Germany's 'Russia first' tactic, based on the idea that Moscow is the key partner in the East. Other states can also be partners - provided they support any agreements reached between Germany and Russia, or at least not oppose them. And Steinmeier's words also demonstrate - contrary to all of the government's announcements - that Polish foreign policy under Prime Minister Donald Tusk is just as incompetent as its domestic policy. While society has been fooled into thinking Poland's international position has improved, we are continually losing diplomatic ground."
