Putin an embarrassing superman

The Russian presidential elections take place on Sunday. But the sure winner Vladimir Putin just looks plain ridiculous, the left-liberal weekly Falter comments: "Russian society is on the move, and he won't be able to keep it under control forever. You just have to take a closer look at the demonstrators who have been protesting against Putin regularly since the electoral fraud in December to understand how Russian society has evolved. ... In his campaign Putin presents himself as a Superman, a racing driver, pilot of a water bomber, hunter of tigers, bare-chested and spouting macho slogans that bring to mind his personal friendship with Berlusconi. The hero seems embarrassingly out of touch with the reality of his citizens - ridiculous rather than worthy of respect. The new president will be called Putin, but he will have to become a different Putin if he wants to remain president."
