Világgazdaság - Hungary | 18/11/2010

Europe's rescue top priority

Even the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy has talked of the potential collapse of the EU, the business paper Világgazdaság notes deeply shocked: "In the midst of this latest crisis in the Eurozone - triggered by Ireland - it is almost incomprehensible that one of the EU's highest political representatives, the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, was unable to express himself more diplomatically. He predicted ominously that the EU would collapse if the Eurozone wasn't rescued. Portugal is on the verge of leaving the Eurozone. ... But there is the danger that as a consequence of the euro crisis Ireland, Spain, Italy and France could also be 'lynched' by the markets. ... The most important task now is to save Europe."
