Austria suddenly modern thanks to Conchita Wurst

Austria's image has been given a facelift with the victory of Conchita Wurst at the European Song Contest in Copenhagen, the liberal-conservative daily Die Presse writes in delight: "After many years of flagellation when Austria was described as a country that hasn't learned its lesson from the past, that can't orient itself in the community of states without sanctions, as the home of Josef Fritzl [convicted in a spectacular incest trial] and Wolfgang Přiklopi [kidnapper of Natascha Kampusch], many now realise with astonishment and relief that it's also possible to tell a completely different story. And they tell it. The story of a country where the world's largest Aids charity event, the Life Ball, was established. ... A country visited by above-average numbers of people of different sexual orientations because they feel good - and accepted - here. ... A country of art and culture - on the cutting edge."
