Legal migration can stop deaths at sea

Another boat apparently carrying over 600 refugees capsized off the coast of Libya on Wednesday. If Europe doesn't finally do something about the refugee crisis it will put itself in danger as well as the refugees, warns the acting editor-in-chief and former Social Democrat government spokesman Béla Anda in the tabloid Bild "More than 100,000 people have made it across the Mediterranean to Europe's coast this year. 2,000 didn't make it - they drowned. What has really changed since the last mass drownings? What has become of the EU's joint action plan? Nothing! The EU has half a billion inhabitants. 40,000 refugees are now being distributed across EU-Europe. Meanwhile more than 3.5 million are starving in refugee camps in Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan. We need more legal immigration options for refugees from Africa. We need an immigration law. Europe is under threat. Not just from refugees, but also from its own inaction."
